Bacterial genome assembly and annotation
Nandan’s current interests at SBI include the assembly, annotation and analysis of bacterial genomes sequenced using sequence data from different NGS platforms. Nandan has been instrumental in an ongoing collaborative project with Professor Hazel Mitchell’s group at UNSW, exploring the genomics and transcriptomics of the human pathogen Campylobacter concisus. This pathogen has been linked to multiple intestinal disorders, including Crohn’s disease. Nandan has also been involved in the assembly of Dehalobacter UNSWDHB and the fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni). Nandan is also actively involved as a trainer in NGS analysis workshops conducted by Bioplatforms Australia in collaboration with the System Biology Initiative.
