Dr Nandan Deshpande

Project Detail

Past projects – medical microbiome analysis and mRNA splice variation

Nandan’s interests included the assembly, annotation and analysis of bacterial genomes and the analysis of medical microbiomes. This involved collaborations with Professor Hazel Mitchell and with A. Prof. Nadeem Kaakoush at UNSW. Outstanding publications included those reporting patient response on fecal microbiota transplantation, and studies on the microbiome of patients with Barrett’s oesophagus. Nandan also had interests in the analysis of mRNA splice variation, which in collaboration with A. Prof. Ashwin Unnikrishnan and Prof. Pieter Mestdagh was published in Nature Biotechnology.
