Dr Zhilliang Chen

Project Detail

Past projects – genome and transcriptome assembly

Zhilliang has a keen interest in genome and transcriptome assembly projects and has worked with sequence data from multiple platforms. She has been responsible for the genome assembly of the Myrtle rust genome as well as Lactobacillus rhamnosus.  Zhilliang has also worked on de novo assembly of the transcriptome of the black cricket – Teleogryllus commodus. She was single-handedly responsible for the assembly of the Koala genome from PacBio long read data, in the multi-centre Koala genome project. That work was published in Nature Genetics in 2018.
