Project Detail

Regulation of histone methylation

Ryan will be investigating the regulation of histone methylation in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. He will use mass spectrometric techniques to systematically characterise all yeast histone methyl ‘writers’ (methyltransferases) and ‘erasers’ (demethylases). More specifically, he aims to identify how phosphorylation events on these enzymes affect their catalytic activity, localisation, and interaction partners. By identifying the upstream kinases responsible for specific phosphorylation sites, this work will delineate the complete regulatory network of histone methylation in yeast.
