The SBI will develop and deliver training programs in the analysis of genomic, proteomic and systems biology data.
These will be delivered annually, or more frequently if demand requires.
SBI core staff and other affiliated experts will present in these workshops. Participants for workshops are welcome from all NSW universities and research institutes. Researchers, as well as research students, are invited to attend.
15 February 2012: Proteomic Data Analysis Workshop
This one-day hands-on workshop will focus on the advanced use of search engines for protein identification and discovery of protein post-translational modifications. There will also be an introduction to the interpretation of functional significance using systems biology techniques. This workshop is part of a four-day training course offered by the Biological Mass Spectrometry Facility at the University of New South Wales. November 2011: Sydney Bioinformatics Research Symposium
Jointly organised by the Garvan Institute, University of Sydney, Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, CSIRO and the SBI, this one-day symposium aimed to promote interaction and collaboration between bioinformatics and computational biology researchers across Sydney.

September 2010: Proteomics Informatics Course
Hosted by the SBI, this four-day workshop was held prior to the HUPO2010 World Congress in Sydney. The course was delivered by the Institute for Systems Biology (Seattle, USA) and the Australian Computational Proteomics Facility (Melbourne), and focused on the use of open-source software tools for the analysis, validation, storage and interpretation of data from large-scale quantitative proteomics experiments and methods (CORRA), multi-dimensional chromatography and tandem mass spectrometry.

September 2010: Advanced Proteomic Data Analysis Workshop
October 2009: NSW Bioinformatics Research Symposium
Organised in association with the University of Sydney, this one-day symposium provided a forum for bioinformatics and life science researchers to explore the latest in bioinformatics research and how these developments apply in life science research. It is also provided an opportunity to establish cross-disciplinary research collaborations.
The Symposium focused on next-generation sequencing, as advances in this technology begin to drive a whole new phase of bioinformatics research and applications in biological and medical research.

July 2009: Advanced Proteomic Data Analysis Workshop
March 2009: The Future of Bioinformatics
Organised in affiliation with EMBL Australia, the SBI co-hosted this one-day workshop in association with Sydney Bioinformatics. Invited presenters included Dr. Ewan Birney (EBI), Prof. Nadia Rosenthal (Head, EMBL Australia) and Prof. Ian Dawes.
