High Performance Computing

National Computer Infrastructure

In 2022, the SBI was again successful in competing for resources on the national supercomputer, Gadi. This is the peak facility hosted in the National Computer Infrastructure (NCI) in Canberra and is currently the 24th most powerful computer on the planet. The SBI uses these facilities for genome and transcriptome analysis, and some aspects of proteomics and protein structural modelling.

The Clive and Vera cluster and storage system

Concerning next-generation sequencing data at UNSW, the SBI has exclusive access to the Clive cluster and Vera storage area network, in association with the Ramaciotti Centre for Genomics. This system is maintained by UNSW Faculty IT.

The Katana cluster

We have shared access to the UNSW Katana cluster. This system is maintained by UNSW Faculty IT.
